Mrs. Irene (Wiazowski) Twernian, 62, of Naugatuck, passed away Thursday morning Mar. 14, 2012 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of Wayne T. Twerian who passed away in 2009 after 35 years of marriage.
Mrs. Twerian was born in Poland, Oct. 6, 1950 a daughter of the late Casmir and Nellie Wiazowski and had immigrated to this county at an early age settling in Bridgeport. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Sacred Heart University, and taught at St. Hedwig School in Union City for a number of years prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
She leaves a son Wade C. Twerian of Wallingford; one daughter, Karen A. Twerian of Naugatuck; one brother Casmir Wiazowski, of West Haven; three sisters, Susan Almeida of Stratford, Lucy Osipow of Roxbury, and Chrissie Caputo-Wiazowski of Milford; one grandson, Sean M. Twerian of Naugatuck and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Her funeral services will be held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
