Mr. Joao Jose Lebriero, 83, of Naugatuck, passed away early Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, 2012, at the Paradigm Healthcare Center of Prospect. He was the husband of the late Maria (DeSousa) Lebriero, who passed away in 2001.
Mr. Lebreiro was born in Acoreira, Portugal, Feb. 15, 1929, a son of the late Luiz Manuel Lebreiro and the late Lucinda Amelia (Dias) Lebreiro and immigrated to the United States in 1962, settling in Naugatuck. He was first employed at the Naugatuck Glass Co. and later at the ITW- Waterbury Buckle Co. for many years. He also worked part time at the Naugatuck Waste Treatment Plant for more than 30 years, prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
He leaves one son, Dean Libreiro of Naugatuck; one daughter, Vera Perugini of Huntington, L.I., N.Y.; one brother, Julio Libreiro of Naugatuck; two sisters, Idalina Cabeleira and Ana Badvgueiro and three grandchildren, Vanessa and Sara Perugini and Zachary Libreiro.
His funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. and proceed to 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
