Obituary: John Soden, Sr. Dies at 89

The following obituary was provided by Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home.

PROSPECT — John Soden, Sr., 89, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011. He was the widower of Ruth Audrey (Dupre) Soden.

Mr. Soden was born on December 4, 1921 in Kilmarnock, Scotland a son of the late William Black Soden and Jane (Sneddon) Soden. He was retired from CL & P where he worked for many years.

He is survived by three daughters, Ruth M. McCarty and her husband Daniel of Leominster, Mass., Margaret Bergeron of Prospect and Jane Dunn of Cheshire, four sons, John Soden Jr. of Naugatuck, Ronald Soden of Naugatuck, Michael Soden and his wife Lori of Southbury and William Soden of Rougemont, N.C., one sister, Jean O'Donnell, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Audrey Heston formerly of Naugatuck.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69 Prospect to St. Anthony's Church for a mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
