Obituary: John W. Blondis, 68

Mr. Blondis proudly served his country in the United States Navy while working on Lunar projects for NASA.

 

Prospect - John W. Blondis, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday October 5, 2012  at Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was husband to Susan (Suvoski) Blondis.

John was born in Waterbury, CT on September 11, 1944, son of the late Edmund and Lillian (Poscavage) Blondis.  He was a longtime resident of Prospect and he was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy while working on Lunar projects for NASA. After his service, he worked locally at Clydel, Litton Veam and AGC Incorporated as a metrologist.  John was an avid train enthusiast. Upon his retirement he spent many hours working on his LGB scale railroad.
 
John leaves his wife Susan of 30 years and her children,  Peter Schoppenhauer Jr. and his wife Sharon of Wolcott;  Krista Schoppenhauer of Prospect; three grandchildren Skylar, Kyle and Kelsey; his sister Linda Tortorelli of Stratford; and his nephew Joseph Tortorelli and his wife Kelly of Milford.
 
His funeral will be held on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect, for A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
