Obituary: Jose Antonio Batista Dies at 55

NAUGATUCK — Mr. Jose Antonio Batista, 55, of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday December 03, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Alice (Sabrosa) Batista.

Jose was born in Vales Vila Pouca Portugal on January 12, 1956, son of Mavilde (Marques) Batista of Portugal and the late Antonio Batista Magalhaes. He was a tool maker for Click Bond in Watertown for over thirty years. Jose was a member of both the Naugatuck and Waterbury Portuguese Clubs. He was an avid Fisherman and hunter and member of the Naugatuck Valley Fish and Game Club. He was a hard worker and will always be in the hearts of those he loved. Jose was a loving father and husband who loved spending time with his family.

Besides his mother and wife, Alice, of thirty three years, He leaves his son Rui Batista of Naugatuck, four brothers, Carolino Magalhaes and his wife Esperanca of Naugatuck, Joao Batista and his wife Ceu of Naugatuck, Antonio Batista and his wife Elisa of Naugatuck, Aurelio Batista and his wife Zesa of Portugal, three sisters Mercedes Cavalhais and her husband Aurelio of Naugatuck, Florinda Almeida and her husband Antonio of Torrington, Nazare Pinto and her husband Jose of Naugatuck, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Arrangements: A funeral service will be held Friday December 9, 2011 at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
