Obituary: Laura Cignotti, 92, of Naugatuck

Mrs. Cignotti loved her family, her church, her neighborhood and her town.

 

Laura (Simat) Cignotti, age 92, of 147 Coen Street, passed away
peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit on Thursday December 27, 2012.  She
was widow of Alfred J. Cignotti.
 
Mrs. Cignotti was born in Naugatuck, CT on August 4, 1920, daughter of the late
Robert and Anna (Hutta) Simat.  She was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck and she
was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.  She was a member of the AARP
Chapter 495.  Laura loved her family, her church, her neighborhood and her town.
 
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Cignotti-Huber and her husband Barry of
Plymouth.  She was predeceased by her grandson Adam Huber and her cousins Robert and Mark Markovic.  Laura also leaves her sister-in-law, Helen Cignotti, her
cousin, Rosemary Gotham of Syracuse, N.Y., along with other cousins, many close
nieces and nephews including Jane Markovic (Mark’s widow).
 
Her funeral will be held on Monday December 31, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the
Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
