Obituary: Mary Ann Brich Dies at 91

Born in Czechoslovakia and lived in Naugatuck. Also was a former Girl Scout troop leader.

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Mary Ann Brich, 91, of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon April 21, 2012. She was the widow of Michael J. Birch, Sr. who passed away in 2005 after 57 years of marriage.

Mrs. Brich was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Feb. 27, 1921, a daughter of the late James and Helen (Mattusick) Franek and was raised in Franklin, N.J. She was educated in their local school system and was a graduate of Franklin High School. She moved to Naugatuck in 1950. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader.

She is survived by two sons, Michael J. Brich, of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home and William E. Brich of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; one daughter, Linda Ann Doerr of Chittenango, N.Y.; two sisters, Margaret Cobbol of Naugatuck, and Helen Illnicky of Dayton Dean, N.J., and seven grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St.
