Obituary: Michael E. Glovna, 69, of Naugatuck

Glovna was a U.S. Army veteran.

NAUGATUCK - Mr. Michael Edward Glovna, Sr., 69, of Naugatuck, passed away Saturday July 21, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Glovna was born in Bridgeport, July 11, 1943, a son of the late Michael G. and Virginia (Long) Glovna and was educated in the Bridgeport school system. He had been a Naugatuck resident since February of this year, moving here from Derby where he had lived for 12 years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 3rd Army, 187th Inf. Division, 2nd Airborne Battle Group, Co. D. He was employed at Dresser Industries in Stratford and retired in 2002. His hobbies included fishing, and following NASCAR.

He leaves one son, Michael E. Glovna, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Ansonia; three daughters, Ginger Glovna, and her spouse, Linda, of Southington, Jennifer Glovna of Stratford, and Cheryl Curran and her husband, John, of Ansonia; one brother, Robert Glovna, and his wife, Patricia, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.: four grandchildren, Michael, III, Tara, Darrell, and Shelby.  He was predeceased by his companion, Vicky Jerry, in 2005.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St.  Burial with military honors will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St., Ansonia.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m.

I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
