Obituary: Mildred Fortin, 82, of Middlebury

Mrs. Fortin has family in Naugatuck.

MIDDLEBURY- Mrs. Mildred Ardean (Luddy) Fortin, 82, of Middlebury, passed away Saturday morning at the Waterbury Hospital.  She was the wife of Lawrence T. Fortin.

Mrs. Fortin was born in Meriden Oct. 3, 1928, a daughter of the late William and Alice (Lawson) Luddy and had been a longtime resident of Middlebury.  She was educated in the Middlebury school system and was a graduate of Crosby High School.  She retired in 1976 from Uniroyal-Footwear Div. where she had worked for many years.  She was a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church and a former member of the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Dept., Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband of 64 years, Larry, she leaves one son, Paul Fortin and his wife Gerri of Middlebury; two daughters, Nancy Gently and her husband Ronald of Naugatuck, and Sandra Grazing and her husband Anthony of Middlebury; 3 sisters-in-law, Anita Wrogg of Naugatuck , Irene Souci of Waterbury, and Alice Luddy of Naugatuck; 4 grandchildren, Traci Alessie, Kimberly Valentin, Gary Graziano, and Denny Graziano and his wife Valerrie; 8 great-grandchildren, Ryan Oppedisano, John Oppedisano, Scott Hansen, Allysin, Amanda, and Brandon Valentin, Ashlynn Graziano, and Anthony Graziano; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Aubry Oppedisano, Brianna Oppedisano, and a future great-great-grandson, Aiden who is due in August and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Middlebury Congregational Church, 1242 Whittemore Rd. Burial will be in Middlebury Cemetery, Cemetery Rd. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral home of Naugatuck, 219 Meadow St. on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Dept.
