Obituary: Roger McKinley Stevens Dies at 70

The following obituary was provided by Alderson Funeral Homes of Naugatuck.

NAUGATUCK - Mr. Roger McKinley Stevens, 70, of Naugatuck, passed away early Friday morning April 15, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Emily (Dos Santos) Stevens.

Mr. Stevens was born in Waterbury, March 17, 1941, a son of the late John Wesley Stevens and Florence (McKinley) Stevens and had been a Naugatuck residence for over 43 years, moving here from Waterbury. He was a retired employee of MIR, Inc. of Beacon Falls, where he had worked for over 11 years. 

Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends, and loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and an avid fan of the New York Giants. He was a Life member of the Waterbury Deep Sea Fishing Club for over 40 years.

Besides his beloved wife of over 50 years, he leaves one son, James R. Stevens, Sr. and his wife Kimberly of Naugatuck; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Wilde and her husband Dave of Naugatuck and Elizabeth June Untiet and her husband Bill of Prospect; one sister, Carol Marangio of Wolcott; eight grandchildren, James Stevens, Jr., Justin Stevens, Sarah Leonard, Stephanie Wilde,  Paige Wilde, Wesley Sniadecki, Monica Untiet, and Billy Untiet, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Stevens, and a Sister, Doris Daunis.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 18th at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Cross St., Naugatuck.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 306 Industrial Park Dr., Suite 105, Middletown, Ct 06457.
