NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Sophie J. (Mazuroski) Lucas, 92, of Naugatuck, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Glendale Health Center. She was the widow of Martin P. Lucas.
Mrs. Lucas was born in Waterbury on October 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Paterak) Mazuroski. She was a Waterbury resident for many years before moving to Naugatuck, where she raised her family. She retired after 30 years of service from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal Inc. and was a faithful communicant of St. Hedwig Church and recently , where she was a member of a prayer group in which reflected her strong faith.
Sophie enjoyed much in life, but was mostly devoted to her family, many friends, and most recently her ‘Glendale family’. Sophie was an avid reader and also enjoyed playing cards with friends. She will be truly missed by all but will always be in our hearts.
She leaves her loving children Marianne Ehrlich of Niantic and Martin J. Lucas of Pittsburgh, Pa., her dear sister, Patricia Kadziewicz of Waterbury, her adoring grandchildren, Brian, Kristin, and Kelli, her beloved great-grandsons, Cameron and Cooper, and her cherished nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 14 at noon from the , 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck to St. Vincent Ferrer Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at the family’s convenience in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. - noon.
