Obituary: Teresa J. Aresta Dies at 97

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Teresa J. (Ferreira) Aresta, age 97, of Naugatuck, died Friday April 6, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Polivio Aresta.

Mrs Aresta was born in Pardilho, Portugal on December 17, 1914 a daughter of the late Manuel and Belmira (Ferreira) Fonseca. She was retired from Jones Nursing Home in Naugatuck where she worked as an aide for many years, was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima church in Waterbury, and volunteered for many years at the Park Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Aresta is survived by a daughter, Ilda Valente and her husband Frederico of Naugatuck, two sons John D. Aresta and his wife Janet of Naugatuck and Agostinho Aresta and his wife Maria of Naugatuck, a sister, Emilia Madeleno of Portugal, three brothers, Jose Fonseca of Portugal, Joaquim Fonseca of Naugatuck, and Manuel Fonseca of Naugatuck, eight grandchildren , twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by a sister, Ilda Fonseca and a brother, Antonio Fonseca.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck to Our Lady of Fatima Church 2071 Baldwin St. Waterbury for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday April 9, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
