Obituary: Teresa Rua Dies at 88

NAUGATUCK — Teresa Rua, 88, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Beacon Brook Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Manuel A. Duque.

Mrs. Rua was born on October 6, 1923 in Seara-Velha, Chaves, Portugal, a daughter of the late Silvestre Cruz and Emilia Rua. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Cruz and her husband Joaquim and Maria Rua and her husband Joaquim all of Naugatuck, five sons, Joao Duque and his wife Maria of Naugatuck, Jose Duque and his wife Cristina of Oakville, Joaquim Duque and his wife Esther of France, Francisco Duque and his wife Custodia of Portugal, Julio Duque and his wife Laura of Naugatuck, one brother Manuel DaCruz and his wife Carminda of Portugal. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Lourdes Duque and her sister Maria Fontes. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St, Waterbury for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Portugal at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5-7 p.m.
