Obituary: Zoning Commissioner Thomas Mariano Dies at Age 60

NAUGATUCK — Thomas J. Mariano, 60, of Naugatuck, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Mr. Mariano was born in Waterbury, Aug. 10, 1950, a son of the late William F. and Albina (Chadarcewicz) Mariano and was a resident of Naugatuck for over 35 years. He was employed by Student Transportation of America as Safety Director at their Danbury office, having been formerly at their Naugatuck facility for many years. He was recently elected to serve on the Zoning Commission.

He leaves one son, Thomas J. Mariano II, of Sharon; two brothers, William F. Mariano III, of Beacon Falls, and David V. Mariano and his wife Donna of Prospect; a niece, Ashley Mariano and a nephew, David Mariano, both of Prospect.

His funeral will be held on Monday Aug. 8, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St., and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetary, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Sunday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.
