UPDATE: Police: Woman Smoked Pot With Juveniles

The Naugatuck Police Department arrested a 32-year-old woman on Wednesday.

A Naugatuck woman is accused of smoking marijuana with three juveniles.

Christy Chriswell, 32, of 95 Cold Spring Circle, turned herself into the Naugatuck Police Department Wednesday. Police said they had an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from an incident on Feb. 13 in which other parents told police that their junvenile children said Chriswell smoke marijuana with them at her house, according to a police report.

The parents of three juveniles, between the ages of 14 and 16, told police that Chriswell had smoked marijuana with them between December and February, the report states.

Chriswell was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a child. She was released on a written promise to appear April 17 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Chriswell told Patch: "An arrest is not an admittance of guilt, it's an accusation, not a conviction. I am very upset that this accusation against me has turned into a media frenzy filled with gossip and slander. These teenagers live in my neighborhood and have been over to my house several times because they were friends with my teenage son. Why when their parents found out they smoked marijuana did they put the blame on me? I do not know. Why were these teenagers not then punished for smoking marijuana by their parents? I do not know that either. It seems to me the parents are more worried about the falsely accused getting punished then their teenagers smoking marijuana. Finally, none of the teenager's parents ever approached me regarding this matter."
