Community Corner

Male & Female Volunteers Needed!

Making-A-Connection is a mentoring program through Waterbury Youth Service Systems Inc, focuses on supporting youth, ages 10-16, who are referred through Court Supported Services. We are a community-based, one-on-one mentoring program, seeking to provide positive role models in the lives of youth on Juvenile Probation in the Greater Danbury, Waterbury, and Torrington areas.  The program is voluntary for the youth and our mission is to engage the youth in pro-social, pro-educational and pro-recreational activities.

In order to achieve a successful relationship, the program requires a commitment of 4-6 hours per month for one year.  In order to become a mentor, one must have a valid driver’s license, be over the age of 21, and have a clean criminal background and driving history.  Becoming a mentor is an exciting and rewarding experience and affords an opportunity to foster the developmental assets in our most vulnerable youth.  This program is an unpaid volunteer opportunity but the benefits include bi monthly gas/activity cards, resume worthy services, and a chance to give back to your community.  We are definitely interested in having you on our team so please contact me as soon as possible so we can set up a date and time to meet.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank You,
