Please sign petition at stop and shop to fight the budgets and tax increases again!

Please all registered voters take a few minutes to swing by stop and shop on rubber ave to sign the petition on the budgets. Our taxes keep going up in this town and less and less seems to be done. Please voters go sign the petition and then please show up to vote against this. We lost by only a few votes last time we've got to fight this. Thank you

Simple question, a mill for this budget is 1.5 million dollars. In your opinion, what should the mill rate be and how to we get there? Proposed mill rate is 45.06. I have spoken to some (petition workers at Stop & Shop) who want it 20 mills lower, great, what are the legal and realistic $30 million in budget cuts to get there?

you keep throwing the word "legal" out there because you know there's no way we can legally cut $30 million from our budget due to state mandates and union contracts. that's fair and I get that, but that doesn't mean we should throw our hands up and say "oh well." pressure needs to be placed and our voices heard so that the necessary changes can be made at the state level and with the contracts. request renegotiations with the unions, petition hartford to change mandates, and if all else fails, declare bankruptcy. these are all legal options.

Brutus, I agree on many items you listed except bankruptcy. We need change at the state and federal level. Local governments are constrained by state and federal laws and regulations. Anyone who voted for Hartley, Crisco, Malloy, Blumenthal, Murphy, DeLauro, or Obama has no right to complain about the local impact of their policies on their wallet.

I'm a teacher, my wife is a nurse. We have two children and a very modest (165K) home, which we love. However, at 48 mils and counting, we can't afford to stay here. I guess teachers and nurses are not the kind of citizens that Naugatuck is looking to draw in. WHO their target is... I have no idea.
