UPDATE: 18-Wheeler Containing Gas Tips Near Longmeadow Brook

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday near Mountview Plaza and 7 Eleven in Naugatuck.

Update as of 9:15 a.m. Friday

A tanker truck carrying several thousands of gallons of gasoline partially fell into a ditch around a corner at Neumann Street and Mountview Plaza near Rubber Avenue Thursday night. The truck has been removed.

Power in the area was shut off for several hours while gas was removed from the tanker and the rig was towed. It has since been restored.

Several police and firefighters were on scene for several hours as Connecticut Tank Removal, which was hired by the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, worked to remove the tanker before any gasoline falls into Longmeadow Brook, which was just beneath the truck. All of the gasoline in the truck needed to be removed before the rig an be moved.

Nobody was injured in the accident. Neumann Street was closed near the Milestone Inn Restaurant, located at 18 Neumann St. The tanker tipped directly across the street from the Milestone.
