Blotter: Man Steals from Walmart, Caught Speeding Nearby

The man stole a BB-gun and BBs from the New Haven Road store, police say. Plus other Naugatuck police blotter.

 

Police pulled over a local man on Monday who was found speeding on Osborn Road in Naugatuck. As police investigated, they learned the driver had recently stolen from Walmart in Naugatuck and was driving away, police said.

Police say Shane King, 27, of 19 Celentano Drive, Naugatuck, stole a BB-gun and BBs valued at $75.91 from the New Haven Road store.

He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and reckless driving. He was released on a $500 surety bond and given an arraignment date of Feb. 27 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Joy Blizzard, 27, of 30 Wilson St., Naugatuck, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol after a minor car accident on New Haven Road at 7:08 p.m. on Monday, police said. She was released on a $500 non-surety bond and given a court date of March 7 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Dennis Tarney, 41, of 111 High St., Naugatuck, was charged with threatening and disorderly conduct after an argument in his home. He is also accused of making threats on Facebook, police said.

Peter Martonick, 44, of 44 Country Hollow Road, Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after punching a hole in a wall at his house, police said.

Suzanne Christiano, 38, of 49 Hubbell Ave., Beacon Falls, was involved in an argument between four people in the parking lot of Walmart. She was charged with disorderly conduct. Victoria Cerullo, 23, of 115 High St., Naugatuck, is accused of pushing Gilberto Silva, 19, of 121 High St., and Silva is accused of pushing Cerullo back, police said. Both were also charged with disorderly conduct.

Demos Grivas, who was also involved in the Walmart incident, is accused of punching Silva. Grivas was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Felicia Meservey, 22, of 131 Scott St., Naugatuck, was charge with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after hitting another woman with a coffee mug in the forehead during an incident at Cumberland Farms on Rubber Avenue, police said. Lizann Barrow, 30, of 131 Scott St., was charged with disorderly conduct for the incident, police said.

James O’Donnell, 39, of 145 Lantern Park Drive, Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct for a fight with a woman on Feb. 5, police said.

Christopher Chandler, 39, of 127 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, was charged with interfering with an officer after police stopped him on Bridge Street after receiving a report of a suspicious person. Police said he lied about his date of birth due to several outstanding warrants he has. He was charged with three counts of second-degree failure to appear.

Robert Olofson, 22, of 35 Curtiss St., Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after pushing an older woman to the floor, police said.

Rufino Perez, 37, of 53 Spring St., Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree failure to appear.

John Terry, 44, of 185 Cherry St., Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct after pushing a female juvenile to the floor and slapping her in the face, police said.

Amy Brelsford, 29, of 14 Diamond St., Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after a fight with a man, police said.

Lena Vermenych, 18, of 933 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after fight.

Daniel Yorro, 18, of 933 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after a fight.

Marian Boffen, 52, of 178 Morning Dove Road, Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after throwing a cup of coffee at the victim and damaging a coffee table, police said.

The above information was provided by the Naugatuck Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate a conviction. All of those arrested are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

how the hell was he able to get into the locked display this shows how and why walmart should not sell any kind of gun be it bb or firearm the blatent disreguard for security in the sporting goods dept is a joke

They are not locked in cases...... Only firearms and ammunition are and Naugatuck Walmart does not sell firearms.

I wholeheartedly agree with Eric. I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
