City Man Caught Stealing from Unlocked Cars Friday

Burglary suspect found walking near scene of several thefts from cars.

Police responded to reports of a man entering unlocked cars in the area of Pleasant Ave. early Friday morning and found the suspected thief nearby.

Naugatuck police received calls about a man who appeared to be taking money and valuables from parked cars around 3 a.m. on April 18.

While searching the area, officers found 32-year-old Adam Erdely, of Olive Street, Naugatuck, walking nearby and determined that he had allegedly stolen money and other items from unlocked vehicles.

A Naugatuck Patch reader posted about the break-ins this weekend, warning neighbors to lock their cars and secure their valuables.

Erdely was arrested on charges of larceny in the sixth degree. He was released on $1,000 bond with a court date set for April 30.
