A 32-year-old Ansonia man has been charged with sexually assaulting two juvenile females for several years, police said.
James Severance, of 8 Root Ave., turned himself in on an active arrest warrant at 2:29 p.m. on Saturday for a fondling complaint made on Nov. 15. The complaintants said the incidents have been ongoing for many years, police said.
The teenage girls told a school resource officer at Naugatuck High School that the incidents had been ongoing since one of the girls was seven, police said. The girls said at various times that Severance inappropriately touched them, kissed them with an open mouth and in September, he pleasured himself in her presence while he was intoxicated, police said.
Severance was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of risk of injury to a child. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond and appeared at Waterbury Superior Court on Dec. 24. He did enter a plea and his case was continued to Jan. 23.
Severance has convictions in Connecticut for evading responsibility, disorderly conduct and operating a motor vehicle under a suspended lisence, according to Judicial Branch records.
