An Easley man is facing attempted murder charges is on the run after a man was shot on Friday.

Derrick J. Goode, 42, of 123 21st Street, Easley is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to a Pickens County Sheriff's Office incident report, a deputy responded to the emergency room of Palmetto Baptist after a shooting victim was brought to the ER Friday night.

The victim, Christopher Thompson, Goode's brother, told the deputy he had been holding his brother's revolver in his right hand when it went off.

The bullet struck Thompson in the lower left side of his jaw, injuring his jaw and the back of his mouth, the report said.

A witness told the deputy the victim was covering for his brother, the report stated.

She told the deputy she and Thompson were in their bedroom at the 21st street residence when Goode arrived home, “grossly intoxicated,” the report said.

The witness told deputies the two men often picked on each other, and that nothing seemed different about this altercation at first.

According to the report, the witness said Goode told his brother “I'm Big Brother and you will never be as good as me,” before pulling the gun.

The witness reported that Goode said “Boy!” to Thompson and fired one shot.

Goode then fled the scene, according to warrants.

According to warrants, Thompson admitted Goode had shot him.
