Father Finds Sons' Marijuana Grow Operation

Police: Plants found after sons take parents' car without permission.

Two brothers from Naugatuck are accused of growing marijuana in bedrooms at their parents’ house.

The father of John Burns, 23, and Eric Burns, 22, of 327 Spring St., noticed two marijuana plants in Eric’s room when he opened the door with a butter knife to let out the family dog, which had been left locked in the room, police said. The father noticed two marijuana plants and then entered John’s room, where he noticed a smoking pipe, a syringe with heroin inside and eight more marijuana plants under a grow light in a closet, police said.

This all happened while John and Eric Burns had taken their parents’ car without permission late Wednesday night. Their father called police, and Eric and John Burns were arrested when they returned home after 1 a.m. Thursday, police said.
