Girl, 3, LifeStarred to CT Children's Following Horrific Crash

The accident occurred in the Quaker Farms section of Oxford Wednesday.

A 3-year-old girl from Oxford is fighting for her life following a two-vehicle crash near Christ Church Quaker Farms in Oxford Wednesday afternoon, Patch has learned.

The girl, whose name was not released, was one of five people transported by local ambulance crews to area hospitals following the incident. Three adults and two children, including the 3-year-old, were taken to area hospitals. The other child is 9 months old.

The girl was later transported by LifeStar helicopter to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. Her condition, and the condition of the other patients, could not immediately be confirmed Wednesday.

A total of six people were involved in the crash. A male driver of one of the vehicles refused medical attention, police said. It appeared as if police were investigating whether that man was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol on scene Wednesday. Police would not confirm that to the media.

The accident occurred at 12:25 p.m. near the intersection of Route 188 (Quaker Farms Road) and Hogs Back Road.

"It's a serious injury accident," said Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky of the Oxford Resident Trooper's Office. "We are doing a total investigation."

Police released few details about the accident, which remains under investigation as of 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. Names of those involved are not being released until families are notified, police said.
