Heads Up: Sobriety Checkpoints in Place Saturday Night

The checkpoints are part of an ongoing effort to keep the streets safe.


Police haven't disclosed exactly where sobriety checkpoints will be, but they are hoping that just the awareness of their presence will deter would-be drunk drivers and help keep the streets safe for all.

On Saturday, July 7, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., members of the Regional Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit (RSTEU) will be conducting sobriety check points at various locations within the Borough of Naugatuck. The RSTEU consists of officers from the Naugatuck, Middlebury and Watertown police departments. 

According to a press release, these checkpoints are part of an ongoing effort of the to reduce the number of DUI-related traffic accidents within our community.
