Naugatuck Officer Injured in Crash

Road conditions during snow storm contributed to the crash, police say.

A Naugatuck police officer was injured in a motor vehicle crash on May Street near its intersection with High Street Friday night.

John Julian was on routine patrol - not responding to a call - when the car he was driving in veered off the road because of snowy conditions, the news release states. The car collided with a utility pole and the officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He sustained a leg injury and was treated and released from Waterbury Hospital. The police cruiser he was driving sustained serious damage.

Police urge people to stay off of roads, which are closed today while plows attempt to clean up snow and ice.

Not sure where it took place, but police cars were doing 30-40 mph past my house on Maple Hill road Friday night.
