Police have charged a West Haven man with attempting to rob a Citgo gas station on New Haven Road in Naugatuck on Oct. 23.
Anthony Simmons, 44, of 353 Center St., ran away from the store after the clerk fought back when Simmons pulled a knife and threatened him, police said.
Police believe Simmons then drove to another Citgo gas station on Union City Road in Prospect and stole $1,000 in cash and a pack of cigarettes.
Simmons is wanted for separate burglaries in several Connecticut towns, including Prospect, Cheshire, Milford, West Haven, Bristol and Guilford, said Naugatuck Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata, police spokesman.
In Naugatuck, he was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and carrying a dangerous weapon.
