Naugatuck Police Track Down Leads After Teenager is Stabbed

Teen sustained "multiple stab wounds" during an incident on Monday night.

A 16-year-old Naugatuck boy was stabbed several times during an argument at the intersection of Rubber Avenue and Church Street Monday night.

The boy was stabbed at 8:56 p.m. after an argument with another male, whose name was not released by the Naugatuck Police Department. The department announced the news to the media in a two paragraph email on Tuesday afternoon.

“The Naugatuck Police Department is pursuing a number of investigative leads,” the release reads. “There is no danger to the public due to this being an isolated incident.”

Police said the victim, whose name also was not released, sustained “multiple” stab wounds and was transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment following Monday’s incident. He was later transported to Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, according to the news release.

Police said the case is active and ongoing at this time.
