Naugatuck, Prospect Fire Departments Battle Structure Fire

The Naugatuck Fire Department knocked down flames in a detached, two-car garage near a house on Osborn Road Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out just before 3 p.m. at 741 Osborn Road, about 200 yards from Naugatuck's East Side Fire House. Nobody was injured, but the garage appears to be a total loss.

Emergency services personnel were on scene from more than 90 minutes. Firefighters from Prospect rushed to the scene with a tanker truck, as Naugatuck does not have one and there are no hydrants in the area. The Naugatuck Police Department and Naugatuck Fire Police shut down Osborn Road, which connects May Street to Mulberry Street.

The house is owned by Armindo and Amelia Alfonso, according to land records. The house is set back about 100 yards from the street in an interior lot. The garage is 644 square feet, land records state.
