Naugatuck Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Police seek information about the suspect.

The Cumberland Farms on North Main Street in the Union City section of Naugatuck was robbed at gunpoint at 3:20 a.m. Friday, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.

Police say a white man with a thin build walked into the store at 572 North Main St. wearing all black with a black scarf covering his face. He displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, police say.

The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and the man ran out of the store, police said. He got into a dark-colored sport utility vehicle and drove north on Route 8 toward Waterbury, police say.

Nobody was injured during the incident and no shots were fired.

Police are searching for a suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 203.729.5222. All tips can be kept confidential.
