Police Charge Naugatuck Man in Hit-and-Run at Stop & Shop

Man charged after allegedly striking another vehicle and driving off.

A city man was charged this weekend with evading responsibility in a motor vehicle accident in the Stop & Shop parking lot Monday, April 28.

Naugatuck police investigated an accident in the grocery store parking lot in which a driver backed their car into another vehicle while pulling out of a parking space then fled the scene.

The investigation led officers to arrest 52-year-old David Cole, of Cherry Street, Naugatuck, on charges of evading responsibility.

Cole was released on a written promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on May 8.
