Police: Naugatuck Woman Stole Thousands in Credit Card Scam

Woman opened a credit card in an acquaintance's name and began racking up the bills.

Sheila Schwartz, 51, of Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree identity theft and illegal use of a credit card on August 27 at approximately 8:53 a.m.

According to police, Schwartz turned herself in on an active arrest warrant stemming from a complaint that she opened a credit card using an acquaintance’s name and charged $2,950. The accused also made purchases on the victim’s credit card totaling $1,225, which she was not authorized to use, according to police. 

Schwartz was held on $50,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on August 27.
