Probation Checkup Leads to Several Drug Arrests

Police Blotter: Fights, drugs, DUIs, other arrests recently filed by the Naugatuck Police Department.

A local man on probation now founds himself in more hot water.

Last week, Naugatuck police went to serve a warrant for probation violation and found the man they were looking for in possession of several drugs, police said.

Francis Santo, Jr., 19, of 20 Diamond St., was found in possession of 45.9 grams of marijuana, eight ecstasy pills, 1.8 grams of powdered ecstasy, and a scale believed to be used for weighing drugs, police said.

Santo was charged with several crimes, including possession and sale of controlled substances, and possession of drugs within 1,500 feet of a school. He was held on bonds totaling $85,000 and was arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on Thursday.

He did not enter a plea and his case has been continued to Aug. 14. He is still in jail as of this weekend, according to court records.

Santo also has a pending case for third-degree larceny.

Christopher Bioski, 22, of 514 Prospect St., Naugatuck, was charged with fourth-degree larceny after being accused of stealing seven batteries, worth $150 apiece, from Lawlor and Sons Construction, police said. The value of the batteries total $1,050.

James Callahan, 51, of 284 Church St., Naugatuck, is accused of pushing a man to the floor and saying he could kill him during an argument on the residential floor at the Naugatuck YMCA, where both men are residents, police said.

Callahan was charged with third-degree assault of an elderly, blind, disabled, or pregnant person with intent to harm; and disorderly conduct and threatening.

He was given a court date of Aug. 7 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Mary Taylor, 37, of 131 Sunburst Road, Naugatuck, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and breach of peace after she showed up at an ex-boyfriend's house intoxicated and started banging on the door and then threw buckets of dirt on the man's car, police said.

Wilenton Romero, 35, of 725 South Main St., Waterbury, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol after being found asleep in a vehicle that was running in the parking lot at 102 Spring St., police said. Someone called police after a report of loud music at 11:53 p.m. on July 21, police said.

A Waterbury man was arrested after stalking his ex-girlfriend at her place of employment in the Naugatuck Industrial Park on July 23, police said.

Hector Montalvo, 33, of 45 Harris Circle, Waterbury, went into the woman’s car and threw her possessions and paperwork out of her car, police said. The incident occurred in front of the woman’s children, police said.

Michael Demetrio, 35, of 99 Greenwood St., Naugatuck, was charged July 20 with violation of protective order, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault after police said he pushed a woman, according to a police report.

Sheldon Brown 25, of 933 Rubber Ave., charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly slapping a woman on July 20, police said.

Saquana Perkins, 23, of 933 Rubber Ave., was charged with disorderly conduct after slapping a man’s face on July 20, police said.

Eric Pemberton, 33, of 1081 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, was charged with two counts of failure to appear.

Bonnie Kelmencky, 48, of 46 Bingham St., Naugatuck, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol on July 20 after police pulled her over on North Church Street for driving erratically, according to a police report.

Lauren Kontout, 32, of 38 Gorman St., Naugatuck, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol after being involved in a motor vehicle accident at 12:03 a.m. on July 21, police said.

Angela DeSantis, 41, of 32 Wilson St., Waterbury, was charged with possession of narcotics after being found in possession of a prescription drug for which she didn’t have a valid prescription, police said.

Keith Pyshna, 38, of 272 Jones Road, Naugatuck, was charged by warrant with third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace after spitting at a female victim and damaging her mailbox, police said.

Jessica Chandler, 26, of 79 Pleasant Ave., Naugatuck, was charged by warrant with sixth-degree larceny after being accused of stealing a TV and a screw gun set from a family member, police said.

Alberto Neves, 45, of 47 Galpin St., Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree failure to appear.

James Seidi, 33, of 47 Pleasant View, Naugatuck, was charged with disorderly conduct after punching someone during a fight, police said.

John Fruin, 40, of 167 High St., Naugatuck, was charged with probation violation.

Isaiah Freeman, 21, of 349 North Main St., Naugatuck, was charged with violating his probation.

Mam-Lederman Sokmean, 32, of 47 Pleasant View, was charged with disorderly conduct after punching someone during a fight, police said.

Matthew Lantieri, 20, of 21 Mulberry St., Naugatuck, was charged with two counts of probation violation.
