Report: Drinking Games Then Melee at Party Before Fall

The Republican-American takes a look at court documents unveiled in Waterbury regarding an incident in which a man fell 40 feet following an assault.

A night of heavy drinking at a house party led to a brawl and eventually ended when 24-year-old Salomon Martinez somehow went out of a fourth-story window this week and landed on pavement 40 feet below.

The Republican-American today takes a look at court documents unveiled in Waterbury that show a large party was held at 8 Pond St. in Naugatuck in which binge drinking games, such as beer pong, were played by several people. The documents state that a fight later broke out, leaving blood stains throughout the apartment and shards of glass on the floor, the newspaper reports. Witnesses even told police there were beer bottles thrown, and that Martinez smashed a large aquarium and hit a woman on the head with a computer monitor, according to the Rep-Am.

Police have not said exactly how Martinez ended up going out a window, which caused severe injuries from which he is fighting to stay alive. The court documents also do not reveal any description of how that happened, according to the Rep-Am. Police told Naugatuck Patch the suspects are not cooperating.

Martinez, who lives in Stratford, has severe injuries all over his body - some are internal - including bleeding on his brain and he is on life support at Waterbury Hospital.

Police have arrested two 20-year-old Naugatuck men in connection with an assault on Martinez: Matthew Chandler, of 24 Myrtle Ave. and Kyle Gonzalez, of 10 Anderson St.

Always 8 Pond St.....my son lives about a block away and I sincerely worry about him living so close to that rat-hole. He has soda and other trash constantly thrown on his vehicles and is selling his home to get away from these hoodlums. And really I wouldn't point this out under normal conditions, but, I know it would be done if it was me (and has been)..so I'm going to put it here.. it's blood smears, not smeres. :)

You ccan probaly bet that the people in that apartment are on Section 8 I say if they have parties like that throw them the hell off I am tired of paying rent and heat for people that can afford to throw big parties. If they can afford parties let them pay there own dam rent. If they have children then DCF should be investigating because that is no home life any child should have to endure. And we wonder what is wrong with society no accountability for any thing. Landlords dont care they get there money from section 8, section 8 doesn't follow thru yeah maybe the landlord will make them move but some other money hungry landlord will take them and another neighborhood goes down hill. I hope your son can sell his house and get the hell out of there. Praying for you Sal!!

Interesting comment Cheryl Cuff. I was in Gamestop just prior to Christmas and had a gentleman in front of me buying $110 worth of video games. The part that upset me was he used an EBT card to pay for them. I thought that this would be a one time occurrence yet at Pet Smart just about a week ago another gentleman in front of me was buying cat food. He was purchasing the small individual ones that cost 1.00 each and 40 of them. He was not only buying the more expensive cat food yet also using his EBT to pay for it....
These cards are supposed to be for people that cant afford food and much like the other subsidies for people that truly require the help. I guess they are getting more than enough to not only buy food yet to also to buy other things.

I agree. I don't normally end comments on a particular story, but these are getting way off topic. And those are just the comments that we have approved; there were far worse comments that we did not approve. For that, I'm ending comments on this article. Thank you to those whose comments added something enlightening to the conversation.

I wholeheartedly agree with Eric. I am thinking of taking my account to a different bank in protest.Read More (NAUGATUCK Savings & Loan perhaps) May sound silly to some, but in my opinion, changing the name of such an historic institution to me is blasphemous, not to mention sounding stupid. ION indeed!
