The parent of a Newtown student called Patch to say that she received a call from the district stating that all schools are on lockdown.

State police are responding to a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Naugatuck native Dawn (Lafferty) Hochsprung is the principal of the school.
According to the Courant, police are responding to an unclear number of injuries and surrounding towns are being asked to respond.
