Three Fatalities During Thanksgiving Weekend, State Police Report

Connecticut State Police responded to more than 10,000 calls over the 4-day holiday weekend.

Connecticut State Police responded to more than 10,000 calls over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, including three involving fatalities, according to a release posted on the department's website.

The statistics cover the time period from midnight Wednesday, Nov. 21, to midnight Sunday, Nov. 25.

Police said the three fatal accidents happened on I-691 in Southington; Route 8 in Beacon Falls; and I-91 in North Haven.

Other statistics from this year's Thanksgiving weekend holiday patrol:

Speeding arrests: 1,611

Seatbelt arrests: 85

Other hazardous moving violation arrests (unsafe lane change, following too close, cell phone usage, failure to signal, etc.): 3,041

DUI arrests: 62

Accidents investigated: 410; With injury: 59; Fatal: 3

Calls for State Police service: 10,469

Statistics from 2011

Speeding arrests: 1,376

Seatbelt arrests: 417

Other hazardous moving violation arrests: 2,745

DUI arrests: 65

Accidents investigated: 389; With injury: 50; Fatal: 2
