The Naugatuck Police Department reminds motorists that schools are now back in session after having been off for more than a week-and-a-half. Some roads in the borough are still somewhat difficult to navigate due to snow piles. During your morning and afternoon commutes over the next few days, we ask that you drive with the utmost caution and be extremely alert to your surroundings. The following are some safety concerns to be aware of:
- Piled snow limits visibility at corners and intersections. Please use extreme caution and courtesy when entering these areas.
- Drive slowly, children waiting at bus stops and walking along roadways will be less visible. Being children, they will be more concerned with playing in snow and with friends than with oncoming traffic. Please be mindful of where they are.
- Keep your headlights on, this will make your vehicle more visible.
- Be alert, be mindful, be observant and be cautious. We are in this together and there is nothing more important than our children’s safety.
Thank you for your cooperation and consideration and please be safe!
