Campaign Notebook: Murphy Finds Hopeful Manufacturers in CT

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Chris Murphy (D) was joined by U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal in Hartford to release the findings of a manufacturers’ survey. In total, 191 manufacturers in Connecticut responded. The survey showed 77 percent were confident in the future.

"This report gives us the data we need to make the case for Connecticut manufacturing to policy-makers in Washington and across the country,” Murphy said. “We will use this information to push for policies that will create jobs in Connecticut and fight against policies that will ship Connecticut manufacturing jobs overseas.”

The Linda McMahon (R) campaign criticized the press conference and told Murphy to “stop the campaign stunts and produce a jobs plan.”

Third District

Rosa DeLauro (D): Tweed-New Haven Airport is getting $1 million in federal dollars to improve its runways, announced DeLauro and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

Wayne Winsley (R): The campaign yard sign for the candidate seems to take a cue from Ayn Rand. The signs say “Who is Wayne Winsley?” which could be a reference to Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, which featured the line “Who is John Galt?” That line has since become a slogan for the book.
