Election 2012: Carpino Wins 32nd in Portland, Ziobron Wins 34th in East Hampton

Melissa Ziobron had a comfortable lead on Chris Goff in East Hampton and East Haddam during the day on Tuesday. In Portland, Republican Christine Carpino won the 32nd Assembly District race against Chris Phelps.

In a town long known for its deep Democratic roots, Republican Melissa Ziobron took an early and modest lead in East Hampton over her opponent, Democrat Christopher Goff in the 34th Assembly District race.

Ziobron ended up coming out victorious, beaing Goff 11,830 to 9,728.

Preliminary results showed Ziobron leading Goff by a vote of 3,321 to 2,991 in East Hampton. Local election officials said they still needed to count absentee ballots, but those vote tallies were not expected to erase Ziobron's lead.

In East Haddam, Ziobron's lead over Goff is even greater, 2,581 to 1,855. As of late Tuesday night results were stlll unavailable from Colchester, though the 34th District covers only a small portion of that town.

Republican Christie Carpino has apparently won re-election to the 32nd Assembly District, which covers Portland and Cromwell. According to unofficial vote tallies provided by the Hartford Courant, Carpino won on a vote of 6,256 to 5,296, besting Democrat Christopher Phelps.

Couldn't find the polling site in East Hampton- new to town thought the high school was somewhere else. A sign would've been nice.
