Honoring Two Iconic Figures

Knowles and Burns Honored for Years of Dedication to the Borough

On Monday night, Veterans Field at Naugatuck High School was the scene of a flag ceremony honoring the life long dedication of Dorothy Knowles and Bob Burns to the Borough of Naugatuck.  The Naugatuck High School Alumni Association presented a new flag to fly over the monument that stands by the fields entrance and dedicated it to Burns and Knowles.

Bob Genovese was the master of ceremonies and many local dignataries were on hand including Mayor Bob Mezzo, Burgess' Laurie Taf Jackson, Katherine Ernsky, and Pat Scully. Also in attendance were state legislators Rosa Rebimbas, David Labriola and Joe Crisco as well as former Mayor Joan Taf.

The Naugatuck Community Band was there to provide patriotic music and the National Anthem.
