Report: Town Clerk Candidate Has Poor Attendance Record on Elected Commission

Lois Braziel was elected to the Planning Commission two years ago but has since missed an overwhelming majority of the monthly meetings.

A candidate for town clerk in Naugatuck has not fulfilled the duties she was elected to oversee on the Planning Commission three years ago, casting a cloud over her candidacy for the $57,000-a-year position, according to a report released Saturday.

The Republican-American reports that Lois Braziel, a Democrat, has only attended four monthly planning meetings since being elected in May 2009 and has not attended a meeting in more than four years. She cited health problems as a reason for her absence in the RA report and said they are now resolved.

Braziel is attempting to unseat Republican Town Clerk Michelle Dowling, who won a seat two years ago by receiving 71 percent of the vote.
