Republican Leader Responds to Mayoral Candidate's Campaign Suspension

"The [Naugatuck] Republican Town Committee and our slate will continue to put our energy into getting our Republican candidates elected," Dorothy Hoff says.

Republican Town Committee Chairman Dorothy Hoff issued the following statement in response to news that Republican Mayoral candidate Jim O'Sullivan had temporarily suspended his campaign:

Yesterday, Jim and his wife came to my house to let me know their concerns about his health. This morning he decided to suspend his participation in his Mayoral campaign for an indefinite period of time. He is not withdrawing from the race.

The Republican Town Committee and our slate will continue to put our energy into getting our Republican candidates elected.

I have great respect for people who volunteer to serve our community. Putting yourself on the ballot takes great courage and a lot of hard work, not to mention the time spent away from your family or with your family walking the neighborhoods handing out literature and planting lawn signs.

On our November 5th municipal ballot, voters will find the names of people, from both the Republican and the Democrat Party, who offer to serve for unselfish reasons, incumbents who have never benefited personally, and those who want to be elected to the Board of Burgesses, Board of Education, Zoning Commission and all the other positions, just to make a positive difference in our community.

They all want life to be better for all of us!
