Sludge Trucks to Drive Down Cherry Street Thursday

Trucks coming form the Veolia plant will be utilizing the main road for a period of two hours.

For two hours on Thursday trucks that normally deliver sludge from Naugatuck’s Wastewater Treatment Plant will be driving down Cherry Street.

Normally, the trucks utilize a back access way for the Veolia plant, however due to ongoing maintenance the entry is blocked because of cranes, said Director of Public Works James Stewart.

So, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the trucks that transport the sludge will be driving down Cherry Street, Stewart said. He said the trucks won’t give off a heavy smell, however due to the frequency they could make Cherry Street a bit noisier.

Stewart acknolwedged that area residents have had concerns over the trucks coming and going through this entry. He asked that any complaints about them be directed to the at 203-720-7071.
