Union Contract On Table At Special Meeting

The union has voted in support of a contract. Now it's up to the Borough to vote.

The Board of Mayor and Burgesses will enter into an executive session at its meeting Wednesday night to discuss a tentative agreement on a union contract.

Following the session, the board will further discuss and take possible action on that contract.

Mayor Bob Mezzo said the contract is for Local 2001 Service Employees International Union (SEIU), one of seven unions on the municipal side. The union represents 15 supervisors, including Louise Sheedy, the assistant Tax Collector.

Sheedy, the Local 2001 SEIU president, told Patch that the union has voted in support of a contract. She declined to comment further, given that the Borough has still not voted on it.

A resolution on this contract would leave only one more on the table for the Borough — with the Public Works union. Those negotiations are in arbitration, Mezzo said.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 in Commissioners Corner on the Fourth Floor of Town Hall, 229 Church St., Naugatuck.
