A search is underway for a replacement.

One of Naugatuck High School’s two deans of student life has resigned.

John DellaCamera is now the vice principal at West Haven High School.

DellaCamera, who was in the position for six years, said he wants to thank the Naugatuck Board of Education for providing him with the opportunity to grow as an administrator in the borough.

“I will miss the staff, the students and friends I’ve made along the way,” he said. “I feel my time in Naugatuck definitely put me in a position to move into the vice principal role in West Haven.”

The job is closer to home for DellaCamera, who lives on the shoreline.

Here in Naugatuck, a search committee is underway to find a suitable replacement, Principal Janice Saam said. That committee will consist of educators, students and possibly parents. The position entails mostly serving as the head of discipline at the school. Per the administrator’s contract, someone at the first step of the pact would make $108,630 a year in as dean of students.

The other dean of students is Tom Pompei, who is also the athletic director.
