Naugatuck Schools Have 2 Hour Delay

Delay comes one day after schools were closed due to snow.

The Naugatuck Public Schools system has called for a two-hour delay today, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013.

The delay comes a day after Naugatuck and most of the school systems in the state closed school due to snow.

Why not have school in the summer versus fall and winter?! Then there is no chance of a flake of snow on the ground. No heat for classrooms, just fans and AC on occasion. What did we have, a dusting of snow?!

Not all of the schools are air conditioned. It would be cost prohibitive and the classrooms get very uncomfortable on hot days.

an even better idea is to have year-round school. something like 8 weeks on, 3 weeks off, all through the year. forget these days with two hour delays that end up being a complete waste. anytime safety is a concern, simply close the schools, and make up those days during the first week of each off period. I've always thought 3 months off every summer deosn't serve us well either because kids are out of school for far too long - and this solves that issue as well. the idea of summers off is antiquated and no longer needed.

My 2 granddaughters went to school in Chandler Az where they had all year classes and it was great
