School Board to Seek 2.5 Percent Increase in Next Year's Budget
Some brief highlights from the Board of Education meeting on Thursday.
The Board of Education will seek a 2.55 percent increase to its budget in the 2011-12 fiscal year when it approaches the joint Board of Mayor and Burgesses and Board of Finance later this month.
The board voted to present the budget to the boards on April 25. The budget calls for a $1.4 million increase over the 2010-11 budget, which was adopted last summer at $56.45 million.
The Board of Finance will vote on the final budget in June.
