Two Hour Delay for Naugatuck Schools

Icy weather calls for delay.

Naugatuck public schools have a two hour delay Monday due to the icy weather.

The borough's 11 public schools, which open between 7:25 and 8:30 regularly, will now open later. Naugatuck High School starts classes at 9:25 due to the delay.

Parochial schools St. Francis and St. Hedwig, which are also on the same bus schedule as the public schools, will also start two hours late.

Naugatuck has had a few delays this school year as well as 11 cancellations due to weather, which the state Department of Education said was the highest number of cancellations among all districts in Connecticut.

Editor's Note: In the original posting of this article, it incorrectly stated that school was canceled due to rainy weather. School was actually canceled due to icy weather. This has since been corrected.
