She and teammate Margo Shumway raced this morning.

Guilford's Sarah Trowbridge has placed third in the women's double scull races this morning in the London Olympics. Trowbridge and her teammate, Margot Shumway, raced at 5:20 a.m., in the second heat of the women's double sculls with a finish time of 6:55.25.

The overall winner in this morning's double sculls races, which started at 5:20 a.m., London time, was the Great Britain team, which finished 6:44.33 in the first heat.

The races are taking place at the Olympic rowing course in Eton Dorney, about 30 miles outside of London.

Trowbridge and Shumway, who trained for the Olympics in Old Lyme, will race again tomorrow. NBC will carry air today's races later this morning.

Trowbridge, 29, first began rowing in 2000 with Old Lyme's Blood Street Sculls, and she's been on five senior national teams and has five medals from international racing. Shumway, of Westlake, Ohio, is also a member of a national racing team who made it to the 2008 Olympics.
