Walk & Talk About Owls

“A Walk And Talk About Owls” will take place at the Gunntown Passive Park And Nature Preserve, Naugatuck, Saturday, September 17th at 9:30 AM, rain or shine.

The Recreation Department and the Committee For A Cultural/Environmental Center – Gunntown Road are sponsoring the program.

Professor Len Yannielli – Emeritus, Naugatuck Valley Community College will lead the walk and talk. Handouts will be available including how to build an owl house. Professor Yannielli completed the preferred habitat study of the Northern Barred Owl in Litchfield County. He also led a number of international expeditions to Navarino Island, Tierra del Fuego, Chile to study the preferred habitat of the Rufous--legged Owl His publications include the book, Lyme Disease, Chelsea House Publishers, 2004. In 2007, the Greater Waterbury United Way and the Connecticut General Assembly recognized his contributions to the community. He was the recipient of the National Association of Biology Teachers Educator of the Year Award in 2009.
